U dva dana performativnog programa u Galeriji Močvara predstavljamo Candelu Capitan, kolektiv SMRK i Zrinku Užbinec. Izvedbene radove objedinjuje interes za testiranje granica tijela i plesa, izvrtanje očekivanih mehanizama gledanja te otkrivanje emancipatornog potencijala ples(a)nog tijela. Opsesivni obrasci izvođenja obilježeni su potrebom za samokontrolom, disciplinom pokreta i suzdržavanjem koje eskalira u ekstatičnu ili mračnu katarzu. Strukturu triju performansa održava i gradi zvučna komponenta koja navigira tijelo unutar sputavajućeg polja izvođenja. U takvom prostoru napetosti ritualno se inkorporiraju kolektivni grčevi, krikovi i grimase.

Moglo bi započeti s tijelom nalik lutki. Tijelo nalik lutki moglo bi ležati golo na travnjaku, plutati rijekom, piljiti iz automobila. Moglo bi biti smrznuto u hladnjaku, prekriveno plastikom na obali rijeke, ležati u krevetu kao da se ništa nije dogodilo. Tijelo nalik lutki moglo bi nestati; na dan, dva, tjedan dana, 96 sati, s nadom da će se ponovno pojaviti, savršeno postavljeno, uredno oprano, uvijek u istoj pozi, čekajući da bude pronađeno, viđeno na ekranu, osvećeno. Započet će, vjerojatno, s tijelom koje nije nalik lutki, a koje mirno sjedi.

BIO:
Zrinka Užbinec pleše, a u svom se radu koreografski koristi različitim medijima i materijalima. Članica je kolaborativne izvedbene skupine BADco. te je bila jedna od koordinatorica Eksperimentalne slobodne scene (ekscena). Trenutno živi i radi na potezu Hrvatska - Engleska - Njemačka što znatno utječe na njene umjetničke, ekonomske i emocionalne veze. Zrinkin je koreografski rad baziran na ko-autorstvu, zauzimajući se za feministički i emancipatorni potencijal plesnog tijela. Završila je MA program "Choreography and Performance", Instituta za primjenjene teatarske studije u Giessenu te u 2020. provela šest izolacijskih mjeseci kao stipendistkinja Akademie Schloss Solitude. U 2021. Zrinka započinje umjetnički doktorski studij pri Centru za plesna istraživanja, Coventry University, Engleska, istražujući odnose koreografije, slatkosti i nasilja.

Candela Capitán: Smrt u klubu

Ponavljanjem serije pokreta u razdoblju od 45 minuta, izvedba Death at the Club dovodi tijelo do krajnjih granica: poigrava se s različitim stanjima kroz koja tijelo prolazi, referirajući se na iscrpljivanja u klupskom izlasku. Repetitivnom koreografijom Candela Capitán istražuje trenutke ravnodušnosti prema životu ukazujući na tamne strane individualizma suvremenog društva.

Koreografkinja, plesačica i umjetnica Candela Capitán rođena je 1996. u Sevilli. U svojoj umjetnosti uvijek oscilira među različitim svjetovima, kreće se u sivoj zoni između popularnog i subkulturnog, pozornice i modne piste, performansa i plesa. Poigrava se sa ženskom seksualnošću i voajerizmom, te se svojom umjetnošću i koreografijama spušta u ponore ljudskog života bacajući novo svjetlo na njegove mračne strane, ali uvijek iz ironične i razigrane perspektive. Njezina vrlo osobna i intimna djela istražuju aktivaciju i dekativaciju društvenih veza na način da tijelo povežu s drugim tijelima, predmetima i kolektivnim slikama.

SMRK je nedavno započeta suradnja između nekolicine samotnjaka, performativnih umjetnika/plesača koji testiraju svoja tijela u područjima koja graniče s instinktom, delirijem, androginijom i intimnim slojevima bića. Performans SMRK je bučno mjesto u kojem se odvijaju nestalni rituali. Zvuk je komponiran na način da se giba između asketske skladbe i ruševine, jadanja i izobličavanja. Asketski element istražuje se u svođenju na banalne, generične forme koje izravno proizvode efekte smiraja sa snagom razdraživanja. Na kraju dolazi događaj koji vodi prema frekvenciji koja nikad ne nestaje s pozornice. Ona nam nudi jadanje bez cilja, apstinenciju koja može potrajati, ujedinjenje žrtve i svjedoka, idiota i ožalošćenog.

During the two-day programme in Močvara Gallery we will present Candela Capitan, the SMRK collective and Zrinka Užbinec. The performances all integrate the interest for testing the limits of the body and dance, twisting the expected mechanisms of observing and discovering the potential of the emancipated dancing body. Obsessive patterns of performing are characterized with the need for self-control, the discipline of movement, and restraint which escalates into an ecstatic or dark catharsis. The structure of the three performances is propped and boosted by the sound component which navigates the body within a stifling performance area. Collective spasms, screams and grimaces are ritually incorporated into that space of tension.

It could start with a doll-like body. A doll-like body could lie naked on the lawn, float in the river, stare from the car. She could be frozen in the fridge, covered in plastic on the riverbank, lying in bed as if nothing had happened. A doll-like body could be missing; a day, missing for two, for a week, 96 hours with a hope to reappear, placed perfectly, washed neatly, always in the same pose, waiting to be found, seen on screen, avenged. It will probably start with a doll-unlike body sitting still.

BIO:
Zrinka Užbinec dances and works with choreography crafting it with various mediums and diverse materials. Zrinka is a member of the performance collective BADco. and was one of the coordinators of Experimental Free Scene (ekscena). She/they live and work between Croatia, England and Germany, which undoubtedly influences their artistic, economic and emotional relationships. Zrinka often chooses to work in collaboration, taking a feminist approach to the emancipatory potential of the dancing body. She obtained an MA degree in Choreography and Performance from the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies, Gießen and was a fellow at the Academy Schloss Solitude in 2020. In 2021, Zrinka started a PhD practice-research at Coventry University’s Centre for Dance Research, England, exploring relationships between choreography, cuteness and violence.

Candela Capitán: The Death at the Club

The Death at the Club pushes the body to the limit through the repetition of a series of movements that are repeated for 45 minutes: playing with the different states that the body goes through, referring to the exhaustion which young people experience in a night out. Through repetitive choreography Candela Capitán explores moments of indifference towards life pointing out the dark sides of individualism in contemporary society.

BIO:
Choreographer, dancer and performance artist Candela Capitán was born in Seville in 1996. Artistically she oscillates permanently between different worlds, always moving in a gray area between the popular and the subcultural, the stage and the catwalk, between performance and dance. She plays with female sexuality and voyeurism, she loves to descend artistically and choreographically into the abysses of human life, shedding new light on its dark sides, but always with an ironic and playful view of things. Her highly personal and intimate works explore the activation and deactivation of social bonds by relating the body to other bodies, objects and collective images.

SMRK is a freshly initiated work and collaboration between a set of recluses, all performance artists/dancers testing their bodies in areas that border instinct, delirium, androgyny and intimate layers of being. The performance is a place of noise and loose rituals. The sound is composed to move between an ascetic composition and a ruin, a synthesised relation between lamentation and distortion. The ascetic is explored in the reduction to banal, generic forms that directly produce calm effects of provoking power. Ultimately there is an event that leads to a frequency that never leaves the stage. To offer a lament without a cause, an abstinence that can last, united victim and witness, idiot and mourner.
